    Default Tillery 3/18/06

Fished lake Tillery yesterday morning, cold and windy! Caught a few keepers, but mostly went looking for new places to fish. We found a nice cove that had deep water and a real sharp point close to it. Started fishing the point till it hit 14- 16' and BAM! Most of the fish were female, real big bellies, some of the males tails were broken up so i know they have been fanning beds. Water in the shallows was 62, the water over where we fished was 53-55. Beleive it or not Black and chartreuse tip with minnows caught the most, in clear water. Did catch alot of green carp, and a few chips, but over all was a nice trip. Found out one thing, the crappie fisherman are on the move. Started out with 2 boats in one cove, in 2 hours there were 15!
I still have a lot of water to cover before i know this lake real well, but i know from here it can only get better. One question, when is the best time to start night fishing with lights? found a spot that would probably be real good if you could sit there long enough without someone going by you @70mph.

As soon as it gets dark on the weekends especially at lillys bridge, all the local shoreline fishers will be out. Its best when it gets warmer but you get a few catfish so be careful with your lighter line.

Nearest town would be Albemarle, on the north end.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
