    Default First Slab of 2016

I haven't been able to fish as much as I would like. I haven't even had the boat out yet. But I have managed a few nice crappie... This being my best so far this year...13.5" and just a hair over 1lb! Dandy! If you've gotten into any slabs in 2016 lets see them (NE area public/private).Name: Image1461529039.533682.jpg

Haven't taken any pictures of the crappie that I have caught this year. But most of the luck that I have had has been at Prairie Queen and Walnut Creek. I did some fishing today around noon at Cunningham and it was quite possibly the best crappie outing I've had so far. 2.5 hours sitting at the cove off Rainwood Rd. and I caught 25 - 30 crappie, ranging from 8 - 10", a few smaller ones around 6". They were aggressive on the bite until later in the afternoon, they seemed to shut down, they didn't move as i saw them still hovering near the drop-off. Caught both white and black crappies, the white crappies were some of the biggest I caught. Some of the larger black crappies seem to be darkening up some, putting on their tuxedos? Haven't caught any fat crappies, or females filled with eggs.

Hey Chris. Sounds like you've been getting out regularly. I caught that slab at Cunningham. I will say volumes have been nice there and sizes have not been too bad. No eggs in her. I plan to maybe hit BO this weekend.

Been hearing many report of male crappies already showing signs of darkening with their tuxedos. But I will agree, the females don't seem quite ready yet. Doubt this cooler/rainy weather will help.
