Default Starting to get the itch.

The itch for crappie! I honestly haven't caught a crappie since my visit to Cunningham back in April. And believe me I have been trying at both Walnut Creek and Base Lake. No one that I talked to has caught a crappie yet out of the Base Lake, but I have a hard time believing they just disappeared. Extremely low water levels there probably had more to do with that. I've heard of folks catching them at Walnut Creek, but the bite has been very tough. I've heard the bite has been very good at Wehrspann right up till spawn. Now things are a bit quiet as the catfish and gills are getting ready for spawn.

The Crappie haven't spawned yet at least at Beaver Lake by Plattsmouth. I was down there yesterday and beat the banks and didn't get a fish. The males are in about 10ft of water and the females are out about 12-15ft of water. I caught a lot of Crappie and perch and 1 huge bluegill. The water temp is still 66 degree's there yet. All the females are full of eggs yet and don't really have the bulging bellies yet. Most of the males are only about 9-1/2 inches and the biggest female that I got yesterday was 13-1/2 inch. The males tails aren't torn up yet so are still staged and ready to go to the bank when the temps get a little warmer. The fish are close to the bottom. I would reel in slow and then stop it and let it sink to the bottom and that is when they would hit it. They wanted the bait ever so slow. I tried jigs but only got perch and the one Bluegill.
I am trying to figure out this new computer and how to download the pictures so I can add them to here will keep trying but will get it figured out. EB

I've seen the bluegills in the shallow waters, but they aren't really feeding, mostly hiding in the plants. I haven't seen the beds being made yet. I caught some small bass under the dock at Walnut Creek on a minnow on the bottom. Also got a decent 14" bass to hit a topwater frog.

So far the knee is good, still having trouble with steep hills and pivoting on my knee, but every couple of days I notice better movement with it.

Take it easy on the knee until it is healed a bit better so you don't undo what they have done so far! This is the wrong time of year for not being 100%. EB

Its been getting better, and physical therapy is helping. With some luck, I'll be able to run and jump again.
