southwest mt. is just packed full of great flyfishing that you do not need a guide for. I go out every year and always find new water to fish, and always catch fish. have fun!

I hail from Dillon, Montana, and I guarantee you won't find any crappie in southwest Montana. Up around Kalispell is your best bet. I would recommend that you find a sporting goods store in Kalispell and begin your search there. The scenery is great and you are near to Glacier Park, although most people would prefer to go through Yellowstone. There are crappie in eastern Montana, but it is not nearly as pretty. Wherever you go in western Montana, you will be near some unbelievably great scenery and great high mountain trout, as well as the normal trout fishing. These are a few pictures from a Razr ride to some cutthroat-loaded lakes.
