    Default accepting a deer

neighbor comes by says hey man I got a deer this morning Bow/arrow I guess you want it, sure I said, have you checked it in, no but you can, no I can't i said you have to use your tag, and then I can keep it. no go ahead and take it, well after I explained to him what happened 4or 5 years ago I took a deer from someone, checked it in, hauled it to the processor and thought it was ok, but he shot 4 more and was bragging to the guy in the parking lot what he was doing, killing and giving away deer cause it was fun. the guy he was talking to was a deputy sheriff. they busted him and everyone who he gave a deer to. cost me 186:00 and learned a good lesson. just thought I would share this, cause in another post they was talking about limit and possession limits on crappie. know the law.

Tagging someone else’s deer is a Little different
That would be like catching a limit of crappie giving them away and going to catch another limit the same day
If that was the case no limit to the # of limits you could catch in a day
You need to claim you own game

actually I was told if you caught number of fish and gave them away and were no longer in your possession you could go back and start your count again from 0.

Believe if you telecheck that deer yourself that was given to you and then process it would be fine as they want someone to accept responsibility plus get correct harvest numbers and many arn't able to hunt or don't but want the meat.

course could be wrong about both.

Yeah, both are dead wrong. Don't do that.

Not sure about MO, but in Louisiana, if you do that, with the fish anyway, they will write you up so fast your head will spin!

Possession limit doesn't apply to deer. Possession limits apply to small game and fish with daily limits. Once you kill a deer you are required to notch your tag and telecheck it. You may give a deer away but before accepting a deer you will want to make sure you have the hunter's conservation number and telecheck ID number for that deer and write it on each package of meat.

The daily limit applies to the number of small game or fish you take that day. You are welcome to give them away but they still remain a part of your daily limit for that day. Possession limit is the number of fish you're allowed to have in your freezer (or cooler if camping and fishing/hunting multiple days). Giving fish or small game away only reduces the number in your possession, not the number you took that day.
