    Default ATTENTION NITRO owners question

I purchase a 1996 NITRO 195 DC. The previous owner didn't point out the drain plug for the boat. I found on another forum that the plug is tethered. I hate to assume, but is it the one with the 2 screws? I don't want to be that guy at the marina. Name: 20200807_210346.jpg

    Hey Anthony,
I know this is mystical and complicated....The left one with a screen is a water intake for a livewell pump. The 2 that look the same are thru hull fittings for drains or livewell overflows.
Hey looks like the only one left with a removeable /turnable plug is yes your drain plug.Rotate it counter-clockwise and she'll drain .
Nope, I do not own a Nitro.

Those two are the mystical beasts I wasn't sure of. I had my boat on a steep ramp yesterday and wow the amount of crap that was in that hull! The reason I asked because it seemed like this boat takes on more water than my Charger. It's nicer, but I'm having issues with the safety and or run circuit. UGH

It's simple to identify which one is the overflow and livewell drain.Put your drain handle in closed position , get the garden hose and put some water in the livewell.Move drain control to open ...the thru hull with the water coming out is your livewell drain. The other one is the livewell overflow.
It is a common problem on boats to have a hose leaking at a fitting because the hose clamp is not tight enough to seal around a hose barb. Also sometimes hoses crack.Or hose clamps fail (rust n break).
To troubleshoot ...there's multiple ways.A guy can splash the good ship loli pop in the drink with bailer plugs in the thru hull (bass pro, cabelas, where ever) fittings for a few hours with the drain control in the closed position. If she is a leakin then the hull is not watertight. If she's dry try removing bailer plugs one at a time for the livewells. If still dry open the livewell drain valve and she should finally leak.
Can you open battery compartment to inspect for water while on the water? Most boats you can,a few you cannot.Sometimes it is hard to see in the daylight- I have looked at night w a light.
Do not know what Nitro year it was but a friend was telling about his relative having one with very limited accessibility to pumps, float switches ,and a view of the inner hull.Hope yours is not that way.
    Good luck

That is all great information for new boat owner. I was fortunate with my first purchase, I only had to clean up years of electrical connections and hacks. LoL
