Default Post Good Stuff - Good Stories

A lot of negative stuff getting attention these days so post good stuff

My story was yesterday we participated in a car parade. My wife belongs to a Mustang club and they’ve done this before. Yesterday they opened it up to all cars. No that was not me in the Lamborghini.

For over two hours we and over 260 other vehicles drove a posted, pre-planned route thru Kearney neighborhoods. It was so cool to see all the families out on driveways, in lawn chairs, on decks, in yards, standing at doors and looking out windows. I saw many Thank you, Bless you and Hope signs. People were waiving, clapping and smiling.

The best part was when we drove thru a local senior assisted living facility parking lot and seeing the residents out waving and smiling. As we passed a Military Veteran at the home (I could see his baseball cap) he stood and gave the most awesome salute to the large American Flag my wife was holding. I was driving her convertible, her holding the flag. I mention the convertible because at that exact same moment some dust, pollen or something blew in my eyes and they became really watery. What a GREAT Day!

    Now Post your good story.
Thanks Clownfish thanked you for this post

Car parade sounds really cool, and totally agree we need more positive. I have been trying to get back to nature a bit with my free time so I took a walk down the river bank one day

Didn't catch a darn thing but it was fun and learned a few things

Pass couple weeks watched the pond behind the house, went from 2 ducks to 8, one couple is having issues lol. Couldn't get to close, best pics I could get. But just wanted to say thank you to some good CDC friends that helped me when I didn't ask for anything, much appreciated. It all comes around Name: 20200410_154334.jpg

Some people were taking pics during the parade, posted on Facebook I guess.
I'm not on fakebook but my wife found our pic.

Great story, Keeferfish. I used to have motorcycles and really enjoyed doing the Patriot Guard escorts. The "welcome home" and even the "unit deployment" ones were more joyous than the funeral escorts from the airport or to the cemetery, but all were incredibly worthwhile.

Every time I got to feeling down about the state of our country, or angry at the nightly news stories, all it took for me to change my attitude was riding escort for some fallen hero out in the sticks... Watching literally the entire population of a small town turn out on every sidewalk and overpass to honor the fallen and salute our flag was exactly the right medicine for me, every time. Definitely a lot of "dust/pollen" in my eyes on those rides.

Some of you that have been around for a while might remember when my wife and I would bring our kids to crappie camp regularly... The kids are adults now, but when they were younger, I made each of them ride with me on at least one escort a year... my son is an EMT and 911 fire/rescue dispatcher now and still vividly remembers standing with me beside our bike in Jefferson Barracks cemetery during a thunderstorm, with lightning crashing in the distance as Taps rang out solemnly.
Teach your kids to hunt and fish and you won't have to hunt for your kids !!
