    Default Relocating

The wife and I just completed a whirlwind tour of southwestern Missouri and Northwestern Arkansas in search of where we need to open the next chapter of our lives. After twenty five years we have had enough of the frozen arctic of Alaska and are looking for a more temprid climate. We threatened to move out about eight years ago and did not get it done. Now with the help of a magnitude 7.1 earthquake last November its time we were moving. So far it seems we are drawn to Warsaw, MO and Truman Lake. Not only does it have the fishing we prefer but seems a generally good place to live out the latter third of our lives. I grew up in Alabama and would fish for Crappie with my uncle and Bream with my grandfather so I know that I prefer Crappie and Catfish fishing to most other types. In Alaska we really don't fish much...its more like fighting monsters. However, I have found the occasional lakes and streams where small trout and grayling are fun to catch.

Any info you guys have for relocating would be greatly appreciated. We plan to be moving next summer, 2020.

If any of you have info regarding IDPA, USPSA, and SASS it would be appreciated.
Also, I'm a garage gunsmith so if I can help with anything please just sing out.

You have good taste! the Warsaw area is striking distance to Truman and LOZ. Both are great fisheries. and it's a beautiful part of the state. Good luck on your search.

If I had to pick I'd be closer to Clinton, maybe Deepwater but just my preference over Warsaw.

Whatever you decide it's not Alaska for sure.

Thanks Guys! Glad to know we are picking a good "Crappie" area. I had the feeling LOZ (Lake of the Ozarks) was more of a recreational lake than fishing. Glad to know it is good for Crappie as well as Truman. We really haven't decide yet where we will land but we know we like the area around Warsaw including Clinton. Again Thanks for th einput.

Well I am also fairly new to Missouri. Due to work the wife settled in Springfield, Mo and I joined a bit later. I will say the members here are outstanding and helpful. If you can make it next year, we have the annual Spring get together the first week end of May at Bucksaw camp grounds on Truman Lake. It would be a great time to get to know the group...And oh yea, welcome back to the mainland...

I don't think you will be unhappy either way; Warsaw or Clinton. Both being right around Truman you can't go wrong.

LOZ has excellent fishing, but in summer months on the lower end of the lake you will have to work around lake lice and big pleasure boats.

Again many thanks. I was reading about Camp at Bucksaw. That sounds like a great time. Don't know if I'll have the move done before Camp next year, but I will certainly make it as soon as I can. I had figured LOZ to be more recreational than fishing. The fact that it is a good Crappie lake is a big bonus. I have dodged the pleasure craft before and they can be quite oblivious. I suppose I would be too if I had my living room couch on the water. Looking forward to getting back but alas it will be awhile yet.

Lake Lice = Jet Ski ??
