Default Rigging Rack Placement - Ranger

Wanted to pick some brains as a contemplate my options. I'm getting more and more serious about acquiring a boat to call my own since I still can't convince Dad to sell me our "shared" rig and there are times where I just need to be on the water up here in Wisconsin.

I'm looking at the Ranger 600 Series (619 - 621) for the big water up here (e.g. Lake Michigan, Lake Winnebago, Poygan, etc.) and will set it up for trolling cranks/boards, so no issues from the consoles back. What I'm curious to hear about, especially from those glass boat owners, is whether you prefer to mount your rigging bases/holders on the bow glass or tuck them in and mount them on the floor. Probably pros & cons for both but I think what I would be most concerned about would be poking a hole in the glass when mounting the bases.

    Thoughts, comments and pictures welcome!

Definitely mount to the floor. IMHO, it’s more stable plus if you ever change to a different brand of rod holder, you won’t leave empty holes in the glass. Good luck on your boat search and if you need anyone to field test it with you, you have my number. ;-)

Also check out Spyderlok rod holders. Most stable and adjustable rod holder made. Gene Johnson can customize them to fit any application

Thanks, Chris. That was going to be my next question.......which holders. Likely pair them with a Millennium dual-seat (those look nice and people seem to love them!

Floor. Dont't put any holes in the hull you do not absolutely have to.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

Nice of you guys to offer to help out...........but you know you'll have to fight my pops tooth and nail to get ahead of him!

    Chris,

If you think about it over the weekend, can you snap some pics of your front deck? I'd like to see your spacing......for that matter, assuming you still have racks set up in the rear, I'd like to see that too. Still debating on racks vs. a center tree for the back.

    Thanks, bud!
