Default Sort of fishing question. Insurance?

Well technology has caught up to hubbies job. The department he works in has downsized from 14 to 7 and 4 of those retire in a 2 yr period. My hubby included. They could all go out now but they are trying to wait until they get Medicare. We are hoping there is enough stuff to keep busy until then. 3D printers are taking over. Hubby has 21 months until Medicare and I have 11 months. Looking around at insurance just in case. So does anybody have any experience with having to find own insurance and any recommendations? Have a call into a company but waiting on return call. Price will tell how much fishing we get to do. Everything affects fishing. Lol

Join AARP and get United Healthcare insurance thru them...lots cheaper that way. Then when you get on medicare you can convert your United Health policy over to a medicare supplement policy.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Your current insurance provider may have a plan that works for you-- it might be more expensive than you want to pay, but until you qualify for Medicare, it may be a good option. Good luck.

the company says they are self insured but it is provided through United Health Care. Going to check them out. Mom and mother in law had that as supplement insurance too. Right now they take $109 each week for insurance through paycheck. Company says they pay majority. Just checking around in case we need it. I hope they let them retire out when Medicare eligible. But they are shipping a bunch of work from main company to Dominican Republic. It is the shoe sole business. But they also make floor mats.

Check into Medi-Share. They are a medical cost sharing organization. They seem to do a great job. My brother in law lost his job and they signed up for Medi-Share. he had a heart attack and his wife had to have emergency surgery in a two year period. Medi-Share paid 100% of their medical bills.

I have really been satisfied with Humana as a Medicare supplement.

+1 for Gordon. knows his stuff

A gun, like any other source of power, is a force for either good or evil, being neither in itself, but dependent upon those who possess it

Medicare is sorta "OK". You have to have a supplemental policy because it does not cover everything. That's Gordon's business.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.
