Thread: Canadian money looks funny

The bill almost feels like plastic and has see through section. The Coin next to the bill is $2 and other is $1. They also don't use pennies. Everything is rounded down or up.

.... That 10 Won was worth about a "penny" back in 1969, and it's still worth a penny now !! I could buy a pack of Ramen Noodles with it, back then ... not sure I could even get that much for it now.

Didn't want to go to Korea in the first place, but it was there or Nam ... because the company I was in for OJT (small parts whse company attached to the 82nd Airborne) was getting called up to go to Viet Nam BEFORE the levy for Germany would be available. I actually wanted to go to Germany & finish out my remaining 18mo of service. As luck would have it, Korea was considered a "hardship tour" which meant 13 months there & the remaining 5months would be dropped & I would be discharged.

The Chinese money was given to me as part of a Christmas gift from the Pharmacist I worked with, which he got back as "change" from a Chinese company that he bought a chess set from. (don't remember him giving any explanation as to why he got Chinese Yuan instead of a reduced price on the chess set) Ironically, he also served in Korea at about the same time I was there. He worked in a lab, playing with rat brains, while I worked in a railroad depot warehouse as the "straw boss".
