glad you made it home safe. a temp gun is a good idea.

A gun, like any other source of power, is a force for either good or evil, being neither in itself, but dependent upon those who possess it

I have a temp gun, in my truck even. Don't use it often but when I head out I almost always stop for gas about 3 miles down the road. When I get there I walk around and feel my bearing buddies to see if they are warmer than usual. If not there when I get to the ramp, which is about 9 miles away.
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6

Same here, when ever I stop for gas or to eat I head back to the wheels to see if they feel hot. Mine are always cool to the touch so if there any heat I know I have a problem.

Bad deal, but at least you got it home, hopefully your axle is ok. Had mine come off on the ramp a couple years ago, axle was toast, boat and trailer came home on a role back that day.

I checked the axel, no burs or cuts, greased it up good and every thing went on smooth except the flat washer, I had to reem it out just a tad. cleaned it and greased it and it fit nice. so again check em often, funny the right side was bad and the left side was good.
