    Default Motor Trim Question

I have a 2016 Crestliner VT with a 115 Mercury 4-Stroke. The motor will only trim just under a 1/4 way when getting up to full speed. Seems like it should trim higher than this, and was when I first got it. The other day I was at full speed and tried trimming it more and it popped up all the sudden and I was able to trim it more. I noticed it got on plane better and got a little more speed. I fished yesterday and could not get it trimmed past just under 1/4 way. Maybe this is how it's suppose to be but it seems like it should trim up more than it is. When I first got it I was able to trim it more but not much. Any thoughts?

Definitely sounds like a problem with your trim. At WOT do you get full RPM ? Have you noticed any leaks around the ram even a small one ? Check fluid level. 2016 is their warranty? I would take it in.

Sounds like an issue with the trim limit switch. I would definitely take in in being under warranty.

Inside the cylinder should be a relief valve, it is closed when cylinder is all the way down. As you trim up to max it unloads pressure not letting it trim up and more. Sitting still it dosnt take as much pressure to tilt motor up so it stays closed. Sounds like your relief/ trim valve is sticking slightly open and leaking not letting it trim up all the way. Need to check fluid and make sure it's full and no water in it. One thing you can try, it has a bypass screw somewhere on the trim/tilt set up. Find that screw and open it up, with young of trailer lowered all the way grab foot of motor and lift all the way up and dop a few times. That may help unstick valve. Then screw it closed and trim up and down several times.

The dealer thinks it's working fine, says there is a limit to how much it will trim under power. It's an hour and half drive to the dealer so I'll just wait till I take it in for an oil change. I'm also calling Mercury to see what they say. If it's low on fluid that something I can do myself. Thanks for the replies
