One of the beefs I have with them both is they are constantly trying to move toward store branded items. I still prefer to use items from the individual manufacturers. I don't mind some store branded items but too much stuff now in my opinion. I also liked having them both because each one carried a few items the other did not. I got off the train of thinking the were the only place to buy stuff and have went back to more local suppliers for most stuff. I actually feel hounded by how many catalogs they send and I actually had to ask them to stop emailing so much. I start feeling anything is too corporate it turns me off.It all started out as local boy made good...to something Springfield had that was unique...to lets take this show on the road...to holy cow what a monster.

I stopped by the Cabelas in KCK just because I happen to be in the area and though I would go in and look around. One of the employees told me about points card so I said what the heck got one for BPS and Rogers here in Liberty might as well get one for Cabelas. Turns out they signed me up for a dang credit card, ticked me off, so I put back the few things I was going to buy and left, canceled card. Too many options in a competitive market to put up with crap like that.

Yes that is how it works. You gets points for what you put on the card. Pay it off when bill comes in then no interest charge and you get your points.

I cant remember the last time I bought anything from Bass Pro. Since they became a home décor and clothing store instead of a outdoor sportsman store as the name suggest, I rarely find anything there I want or need, and usually when I need something they don't have it anyway. Online searches and shopping has come a long way and I can find everything I need now without ever stepping into a store or I can still go to the store just to make sure its the right product I want, like size, color, length and so on.

Cabelas had a different assortment than Bass Pro, so you could find things at Cabelas that Bass Pro did not carry.

Bass Pro sucks since they went mammoth. Every time I walk into that place to purchase the items I can’t find elsewhere, I think….’I’m paying extra for all this BS fluff’.
Morris’s organization has bilked a sales tax for nearly 9 years in Springfield to complete the ‘Wonders of Wildlife’ museum and aquarium which shut down December 2007. Says it’s to open in 2016. They may open in December.

For sure when a monopoly forms cost will go up where quality and service go down.
Fortunately the Market is smarter and faster. We have the internet to peruse and purchase a cornucopia of tackle If we aren’t in a hurry.
Other will challenge….Maybe Academy, maybe Dick’s, maybe something we haven’t seen yet……Time will tell.

Much prefer to do business with Rogers in Liberty or Everharts in Clinton than either Bass Pro or Cabellas.
