rogers and Everharts better...totally agree.
This wont be good for the customer. I'm over BP and not likely going to like what they do to Ranger or Cabelas. they gotta recover their investment which probably unfortunately means cheapening the product to get their investment back. there must have been a hundred comments when this hit the Wall street journal, and I'm not sure 1 person thought this was a good move for the customer or Cabelas. Almost all liked Cabelas better than BP for store branded product quality and specialized stuff you don't see in places like BP and Dicks.

Gonna have to take a different side. I really like BPS and have had few problems with their products and no problems with service. Regular prices for name brand stuff is high but they always have good sales. Buying out Cabelas is just part of a capitalist free market and they employ thousands of workers. I do shop at my local bait shop which is a BPS dealer and online more but I just don't have any problem with Bass Pro.
Everyone has their preferences on what they buy. If you like it and it works for you then why not. Time will tell on what the future holds for the new Cabelas market and products. I have been buying what I need from smaller companies or even individuals for the past several years now. If they have a good product I prefer to support the little guy trying to break into the big guy market place.

Would not expect major changes, first off the sale doesn't close for several months. Plus BP invested several billion in a strong traditional brand, to disassemble the brand is comparable to shooting oneself in the foot. Thing that is intriguing is they are going against current commonly held logic that prefers investing in on-line sales efforts versus the brick and mortar route. I think it will be a decade before we know the outcome. Eventually the consumer gets to make the final judgement.
