    Default Tracking app. For phone

Is there an app you can put on an iPhone to track your path on a lake? Going to take a fishing vacation this summer and our gps quit. It won't stay on even with new batteries. So deciding between new gps or iPhone. Going to Canada to fish were I use to go a long time ago with parents. Husband doesn't want to get lost on lake.

If you find something, that would be great and I hope it works for you. BUT...don't forget about international data rates when you're tooling around in Canada. Some apps will download all the map data to your phone. But if they don't...and you're downloading on the fly....that can cost you big time if you don't have int'l data plan.

I would go with a gps unit and not have to worry about cellular coverage. Plus I still believe the gps units are more accurate.
Hope you have a great trip

There is an app called navionics that works pretty well. I think the app is free but you have to purchase the maps for some specific lakes. I don't think the app uses data I think it just uses your phones gps

Thanks. Probably get another basic one. I really dont have any use for a fancy phone. I have an older phone that is turned off 99% of the time. Only on when need to use it which is very little. Not even on once a week. Not a big phone yaker.
