Welcome to the board. You might contact Mertin's Bait and Tackle and inquire about Binder Lake. I hear it can be good at certain times but i don't personally know anything about it.
Mike
I have caught small bass and small crappie out of Binder. They catch cat out of the Moreau which leads out to the Missouri. There is a small conservation lake around Chamois that is fairly good if you have a jon boat. There is little Prarrie lake that has some nice crappie but small numbers I think. The Gasconade has some crappie, lots of smallmouth, but you almost need a jet for getting around. If I can help, mainly south of Jeff let me know. Dave
I don't know about Binder, but there are lots of potholes along the Mo river from when it has flooded. They have good crappie in them and some of them don't get much pressure. You have to boat on the river, tie up and hike a good ways to most of them. The harder they are to get to - the better. I think there are aerial maps of the river that show them, but I'm not sure where to get them. Also, around February, if the river is up around 12-13 feet, there are often crappie in the rivers flowing into the creek. They higher the river, the further back they'll be. The moniteau, by Marion, usually produces some gooduns in February and March. There's big crappie behind some of the wing dikes when the river is low, especially those with very little current, by the mouths of creeks, like Cedar creek. Good fishing.
Jim - Have boat - will travel.
I am from Jeff City and have fished binder all my life, but you will not catch any great size crappie, but you can catch a limit in the spring when they are on the dam area or spawning around the lake. Usually they are < 10". I go to the LOZ when I want to get some good crappie.
