    Default Smithville 9/7

Nice day on the lake. 50 degrees in the morning and didn't get past 75 during the day. AND didn't have to come in early to beat the lunchtime pleasure boaters. The lake had a sprinkling of fishing boats on it all day. But, fishing was hard.

Decided to go up lake on Camp Branch. Stayed in the 10 to 15 foot depth, with fish mostly biting the skirts but not eating the whole bait. Caught better sized fish but had to work the trees. Only caught one every 10-15 trees. Fish were 10' down. Brother and I went through a bunch of colors. My best was black and chart, brothers was tri color black, green, chart. I only used one 1/8 chart jig. Brother double rigged the same sized jig. Brother only started getting bites when he cut the lower jig off.

After getting skunked up river headed back down to fish Camp Branch brush piles. Caught a few, but better sized than last time. Around noon they went tight lipped and we went home.

Today FISH FRY with the family.
