    Default LOZ - 10/09

After some discussion with the guys at Angler's Port, I decided to give LOZ a try. We launched out of Drake and went south. We hit 2 spots, with the first being a complete flop! We moved to a point that has been productive in the past and there were lots of fish with a keeper in 6 fish. We headed north to the slack water, dipped some structure, but the fish were hanging tight to the cover. So, we headed to a spot where I was told I could tie off to his dock. Lots of fish again, but they weren't budging off the cover. Hooks with minnows, jigs with minnows, jigs with just jig bodies, and I tried bobbers. Nothing!!!

Amy and I decided to take a break from standing and trying to catch fish. We headed back up to the slack water and put out the spider rigging gear. Within a few minutes of having a few lines out, we landed 3 fish. As soon as I started following my route, 5 more fish within a minute or so. 20 yards from our starting point 3 more fish. It was fun, but nothing to take home. Overall, spider rigging made my day! It allows me to sit back, relax and not worry about the fish I can see on my Live. I love my live for stalking, but it is very frustrating to see big fish move on a bait and turn away.

I don't know how many of your lug 8 rigging rods with you. I really hate lugging them around. I have a millennium rod rack that I don't use, but even that is a PITA. I like rigging, but the amount of gear just brings me down. LMBO

Truman Lake Take-over is this weekend. I'll post the link to the event where Mr. Palmer started this. I can't remember why, but he did one a lake up north and wanted to get a group of Truman folks to do it down here.

Riggin rods are easy to drag around... you just need a bigger boat

My boat has plenty of space, I just need to reduce the number of rods I carry. When we started the morning, we had 5 jigging rods and 8 rigging rods on the deck. Before we unleashed the 8, I broke down and stored the other 5. I don't use that rack because it limits the side you can load/unload passengers. Ol' flea foot doesn't have sea legs, so I have to make entry as simple as possible.
