    Default It was cold morning

Time to head back as bymo and his wife were coming over for dinner. Wanted to have some truly FRESH filets for dinner. Started slow and buds had said it was after sun was up on water only picked up few dinks after 7. Then one of my buds showed up and tho he swore he wasn't coming because w gas prices so high and his big 4 wheel drive truck when he called and had 2 of his friends out fishing he couldn't stand it and he was on his way.

Only had 6 in bucket when he arrived and other bud had none as wevwere ketchn but dinks. Then he hit the water and it was on. He is the best crappie ketchr I've seen and soon he was pulling up one after another. Worse it was same places my other friend and I had been fishing!. Lots of numbers and his bucket filled quickly tho I wasn't getting only a few.

We had been mostly vertical jigging but I decided to pitch my jig and KABOOM, as the outlaw says and a BIGUN was on. I was fishing w my ultra lite outfit with 4 lb test so real concerned about landing this Slab. Couldn't just muscle him in but guided him onto shore and I had bragging rights! Ended up being 14 +.

So my two buds limited out and left but took a while longer for me. Boats would swing by us and all had same story lots of ketchn but had to wade thru numbers of dinks to get lime of mostly 9 inch fish. Warmed up so was wonderful 3 days once again at my place. Lots of visitors and made a new friend w guy who is from stl as we r.

Great to be back out and looking forward to great fall. Tight lines all! Let's get out and feel that THUMP/ATTACH]Name: 20220929_112524.jpg

Nice. My uncle & wore out Truman around Fairfield, the island there by the launch & even a couple miles up the Big Pomme Arm, weaving our way through timber. Shallow, deep, off points, the 83 bridge pilings & shallow coves. Threw everything in the tackle box at 'em & between 3 outings over 2 days, we boated exactly two 12" drum, two 12"-15" channel & a 10" crappie between us.

Don't know if it's the recent temperature drop or what, but nobody we saw or talked to was catching. My uncle knows a guide there said folks were having to work all day for 5 keepers & most getting skunked. Said they're between summer & fall patterns. Been getting skunked all summer on Pomme & Truman, due to heat & bad timing. As a newb/re-entry (after 35+ years) angler, I can't wait to get out & actually get into some catching.
