    Default LSL KIDS FISHING

Joined the Lake Stl Anglers who primarily are green carp C &R tourney guys but do do great work improving the two main lakes. Don't live there as we r seasonal weekend folks so don't make meetings but do show up for community service stuff and the best one is annual kids fishing derby. Lots o kids come out and trophy fir different age groups for smallest and largest fish and casting contest.

Cap'n crappie CDC member I met at first meeting runs it and he went to Walmart and was able to get incredible number of really good rod/reel combos, nice stuff that kids got free for simply registering and participating. Had the Paw Patrol and spiderman little rigs for smaller kids. Plus boxes of nightcrawlers and had guys who would set up the rigs and get them fishing. I was the masterbaiter who put a few worms In cups for them. Course some of the little ones just played with the worms which was fine.

Kids would ketch fish and run to Pavillion where they would be weighed and put on big board and then fish released. Kids LOVED it and some brought many small fish on but loved the high fives from the volunteers. Some Big fish were caught including almost 18 lb flathead, lots of channels, few bass and loads of sunfish. Trophies handed out along with hot dogs and chips, sodas. Many kids we helped ketch first fish ever and the grateful smiles made it so worth it.Name: 20220611_093705.jpg

Heck I think it's way more fun for us volunteers as watching them have a blast reminds us of ourselves back in the day
