    Default And another Smithville Report..........

Went back yesterday, just to nice not to go. Nothing on the banks but a bass and a bluegill or whatever that is pictured and no crappie. Also not in my other usual spots for this time of year.

So back to the frustrating brushpile loaded with fish but this time got a tip from someone. I caught about a dozen (probably missed more) crappie on the same pile I couldn't get bit on yesterday but had tons of follows. This tip comes with a warning.

Warning: Do NOT Tell Joedog: (he may have a heart attack)

I downsized to 1/16 plain jig with (not blue and chartreuse) shad colored baby shad and even tied 6lb mono leader to my braid and WHAM it worked. I'm sure the reason I couldn't catch them before is they were all 5 to 7 in fish!

I had the same experience Sunday. Fished shallow, nothing. Went to deep trees, nothing. Fished bridge pillars , nothing. Finally went to brush in about 15 ft although the bite was slow and finicky I managed to catch a few nice ones before I had to head home.
