Great!
Wow what a year in may I caught my PB with 2.5 white crappie, buddy Doug I gave my front seat to and reset his bobber to correct depth and he immediately caught one that weighed right at 3lbs! Then his bestie Tom caught HIS PB at 2lbs and now Junglejimjigs caught his PB black crappie as I was walking up to him and took the pics and it was a monster over 17.5 inches. Then our host Charlie caught HIS PB at over 2 lbs.
That is some big Krappie Ketchn! Plus all but JJJ also caught their personal best limits o crappie on same lake and time. All because of a tip from a crappie ketchn buddy I made friends with and gave me a call and I immediately hit the road and got on em.
Great!
Nothing like catching a 2+ lb crappie, my biggest was 2003 3pounds 9oz only a few oz shy of a state record back then for black crappie now the new record is 4lb 1oz and 4lb 9oz for white I believe. I've only caught a half dozen over 2lbs since my big crappie but I haven't fished much for them after but plan to get back at it this year.

That is the truth Mark. of course she reminds me of that everytime I tell her one of my buds caught a big one. Says oh that's a nice one but is it as big as MINE?
I am going to have a replica mount made of both our big fish on one piece of structure for the lake condo. Hers is bigger of course and that's all right with me.

Every year a friend and I spent a week at Lake Rathbun and had a dollar bet for biggest fish of the week. One year I caught a 2.2# fish and was a bragging fool. I finally had a lead on him. Within an hour he caught a 2.5# fish and wound up beating me the tenth year in a row. I really don't mind as when I take someone and THEY do well I have succeeded in my eyes.

Rathbun's my original home lake. back in the 70s as a 10YO new fisherman,we camped at Bridgeview when it had NO trees! caught a lot of em back then. I have a framed contour map in my office that was distributed back in the 70s. it looks somewhat different than the newest lake master map. they have a few left around the hatchery. good memories.

Nothing like calling friends up and having them come to a hot spot and it STILL kept producing and they had biggest days of their fishing lives. Last one my "minnow boy" buddy insisted on fishing his minnow at 2 feet under bobber because that's what got them week before and pattern was entirely different. he was in middle of boat with me in front chair and ketchn big fish after big fish on bridge piers all around him but tight lines at 7 to 10 feet on jigs. after I had close to my limit and he had one I finally persuaded him to take my seat and my pole and I took his. I simply moved his bobber up the line to 8 foot and he asked for it back tossed it out once and he caught biggest fish of year around 3 lbs! I didn't mind at all as you should have seen the look on his face! didn't mind at all he got biggest as I had bee ketchn tons of pound plus fish up to 2.5 for couple weeks.
Nothing like sharing the experiences with good friends!
