LOZ - Slack Water - "It's like a box of chocolates..."

After getting skunked Thursday on Truman, I decided to take Amy down below the dam for a mixed bag of fishing excitement. The water was flowing when we got there and within minutes of dropping the rigs in... BAM first fish was a 14" cat and it got tossed back. I hit all my way points with one keeper crappie happening 30 mins in. Then Amy hooked into a 4 lb catfish that blew her mind! We boated 1 dink white or striped bass, 20 dink crappie, 2 keeper crappie, 1 channel cat and 3 blue cats ( blues were all 3-5lbs) and an 18" spoonbill. I know crappie are in the area and I know it's a mixed bag out there. It sure as hell beat getting skunked the day before!

Good thing it's the banks and if you stay in 16 FOW you won't get into many trees or brush. Damn it, not tree steaks for me!

A mixed bag is great fishing. Those bigger cats on crappie gear can be a hoot
