I had this discussion with my GFs dad last night. He mentioned we were targeting the bank, but we were missing out on 20-30 other fishing staging to go to the bank. This includes the males that only run in, sperm the eggs and move on. They are just off the bank in slightly deeper water. This supported my thoughts after I left the water Saturday. I was second guessing my strategy all morning into the afternoon.

Very easy for us to do. I get stubborn in my the ideas cause this or that worked last year, I don't know if I'm just lazy or forgetful of things I know are true. I think their is a lot more to this fishing thing than my fancy electronics.

Haven't seen this a few years but Sunday we seen several females come to the surface on their side like they were stunned.
I've heard after they lay their eggs they are exhausted and takes a bit to get them going again.

If they were heavy with eggs and then spawn out quick it takes a little bit to get the gas bladder back down to there new weight. They can have trouble navigating for a bit.

Sounds reasonable. I'll be looking for this in the future!

You prolly only missed catching her by a few minutes. Thanks for posting, been a lot of years since I saw this. Just happened to be fishing with a fisheries biologist and he explained this to me.

I figured it was a weight of exhaustion thing, going back tomorrow to try it again.
