been crappie fishing for 50 years or longer, never paid attention to this, and not sure it happens.
discussing that on main board with Outlaw have you all noticed this in MO? have come across it couple of times but most guys I talk to in person don't seem to be aware of it.

No idea, everyone has a different opinion of what the spawn is and when it's actually happening.
I know that is a thing they watch at lake talquin in Fla. But in the deep south you folks catch crappie 24/7 365. They are just heavier during spawn.
2018 and 2019 no, but did seem different last year with lots more white crappie not seeming to spawn and full of eggs into the summer.

I didn't either beagle till came across a big spawn all along a hiway causeway that was nothing but blacks after getting into the white spawn couple weeks before. no one else around, so just a fluke I noticed it but then saw it again couple years later. especially with the males all in black and coming fast and furious it was not a thing
Always seen blacks spawning about 5 degrees cooler than whites
