As TheRo0sTer said, 14-18' is where I usually am, sometimes shallower, sometimes deeper. I always use minnows that time of year. I've been down to fish at the dam and sometimes there might be 50 boats in a 100 yard stretch. Don't let that intimidate you. Most everyone is friendly and there to have a good time.
