Default Question for you spider riggers

I think we have all have had this happen at times. You have all 8 rods set up basically the same yet for some reason almost all the bites come off of the left side or the right side. I always feel bad if I get all the action on my side ( Richard excluded) but actually I think as I have control of the boat I should be able to share the love. I’m thinking that the wind can affect this sometimes. I will look at the track of the rods and one side will be spread out evenly yet the other side looks to be walking in a line one after the next. Just wondering if anybody else has this problem and if so is there a solution.

I fished multiple rods years ago. and a few years ago I bought a aqua view camera, and I can tell you for a fact fish face different directions and if they don't see you lure/bait no bite, so if you go through a school of fish half will probably be facing the other way of the other half give or take a few. their fore slowing down the bite on one side of the school

I do see this but think I get tunnel vision as to what I'm doing across that big of a spread. Between the depth finder watching and my controlling the boat movement I tend to keep my baits in the zone and not concern myself with the other half. Heck I even slow down when I see fish close to my rods. I have had days where the other person got the fish and I just wasn't keeping up. Not sure there is a good answer for this.

    You should feel bad!
Ok so I've noticed that same thing on your boat and mine. I figure with the long poles you're 28ft wide plus the width of the boat. Then where we fish, the wind usually puts the bank on your side of the boat. To put the left poles in or near the same fishing spot would snag, drag, or wag all your poles on the bank.

We could look for new fishing spots...but sharing the almost guaranteed spoils works for me

Depending on how hard the wind is blowing baits one side of the boat maybe moving slower or faster then the other, like making a turn when long lining. Could also be the wind is putting one side of the baits more under the boat , which may be spooking fish. Could try and go in the opposite direction see if the bite still stays on the same side of the boat.

have only rigged with you Jeff and with bowling. when with King Richard as he was standing back behind mac and I we were getting about equal bites on our poles so maybe not fishing and seeing the fish on his 360 he could keep it equadistant for his clients easily. while when your sitting in one of your seats and watching poles it is harder to watch screen and keep both sides over fish? just a thought.

only problem we had was mac didn't have his ears on and didn't see the bite and when richard would call out 8 pole he would grab the 6! between the two of us delberts we missed a lot of bigger fish as we wern't setting the hooks well enough or wouldn't see the bite quickly enough. but still had a great time and got our limits but was frustrating for him. imagine he is used to it tho as he does great everyday
