    Question Winter fishing in Missouri?

Getting a group of guys 6-10 here from Minnesota and Wisconsin and would like to make a winter fishing trip to Missouri. More then likely anytime from January to the end of February for some open water Crappie fishing. Looking for suggestions for that time of year for lakes and lodging. Any and all information is appreciated as none of us have ever fished in Missouri before.

I'm sure some locals will chime in here, but for me, I would look to Lake of the Ozarks. Can't give any help on lodging, but I'm sure you will get plenty of suggestions.

Spider rigging is the ticket for winter fishing here in Missouri during that time. Focus on bluffs in 15-30FOW and around 15-20ft deep. I use down imaging to find fish and troll very slow, under .3mph usually.

Dock shooting at lake of the ozarks is hard to beat, but be aware the lakes still freeze over here.

Also Stay at Bucksaw resort, fish the Grand arm in February. the winter bite is pretty established by then. Hook up with local guide Richard Bowling day 1.

definitely hook up with King Richard! He gets it done everyday in all conditions and will show you the way for the rest of your trip. plus he is personable and it's a great learning experience. All of your crew should experience it.
