Default Fall / Winter fishing searching

Good Day Crappie hunters! I'm still learning and I'm sure others are still learning as well. Where should I start my search for this time of the year and leading into the winter months. I've been told the fishing is GREAT this time of year, but I really don't know where to start.

    Dipping
    Rigging
    Trolling

    Thank you for any input,
    Anthony

I’ve been catching mine the last few weeks long lining(trolling) 1/16 jigs.
Also pushing 1/4 oz. double minnow rigs.
Everything in no more than 7.5-8 foot of water. Water temp is around 63 deg.
Hope this helps you figure something out.
    Keep after them.

Thank you Chuck! I hadn't realized they would be that shallow. As soon as the wind isn't 12-20 mph, I'm headed out.

Spider rigging is my preferred method November-March. November-January, troll double jig rigs. I like black and chartreuse, but they will bite on just about anything. Sometimes crappie nibbles help. While the water is still cooling off, 6-15 FOW is where you will find them. I look for fish on my down imaging in 15-30 FOW when the water temp gets to 45ish degrees. In the winter, trust your electronics. I've caught tons of fish in areas I thought they would never hang out, but my electronics told me they were there. In late February through March, troll double minnow rigs as the fish are feeding on shad preparing for the spawn. If you are in need of double minnow or jig rigs, I know a guy. Also, another winter fishing tip, always dress like the temperature is 10 deg cooler than it really is. Example, 40 degree air temp, dress like it's 30. I do this every time I go out in the fall and winter and I stay MUCH warmer. I hate being cold, but I love to fish year round. NEVER take your life jacket off in the winter. Cold water will zap even the best of swimmers. Hope this helps. Happy fishing!

TyFord - maybe you can post a picture of the double minnow or jig rigs? I learned the lesson about dressing warmer the first week we have a constant lower 50s. I dressed like lower 50s summer weather and froze my jibblets off!

Make sure you check the shallows till the water temperature gets colder than 50. You will be surprised how shallow some of the fish are.

Good advice here...... typically Dad and I's first technique, especially on sunny days but cooling off, is a jig & cork 18-24" down. Almost like your fishing the spawn but focus on wood vs. bank.
