    Default Smithville Late - October 3 & 4


    Too pretty of a weekend to not get out and at least try it.

    Got to the lake Saturday and everything was fine 'cept my graph battery was dead, so had to find brushpiles by memory and try to guess if they were holding fish. Needless to say, that didn't turn out very well. But nice cruising the lake a little bit and blowing out the cobwebs. Been a while since I'd been out.

    Went home and threw the chargers on and since the Chiefs game was moved to Monday night, verified the electronics were good to go and headed back out.

    What a difference a graph makes!

    Well...at least I could find the piles and see the fish. Getting them to bite was another thing. Colder temps, I guess? That, or I suck at catching. Probably both!!

    Frustrating cuz I could see them on the graph. Finally found a couple willing fish. 4 crappie and a 3# channel cat that was fun to wrestle out of the brush.

    Crappie were released. Catfish was filleted up and given to the neighbor.

    Sorry, no pics. But glad to be out nonetheless.

    Bummer about the fishin Joe, but glad to hear you got out, was a nice weekend for sure. Thanks for the report, I haven't been out in about a month and was wondering if they were biting. Should get a little better when the weather gets into more of a fall pattern.

    I was out that way a couple Saturdays ago. I was doing a bicycle race and thought about dragging my boat with me. Glad I didn't, the wind was blowing 18 mph out of the south all day long. I'd like to try it out one of these days.
