Let us know. Good luck
My wife and I are going to make a run down to Gravois this week. Anyone have any reports?
Nope, not a hockey player!
Let us know. Good luck
I was fishing this weekend in Moonlight Cove which is just up the main channel from Gravois Arm at my Brother-in-laws/Sister-in-laws resort, Rock Harbor Resort (Sunrise Beach). Was fishing on a covered dock that is over 15' - 20' water. Found lots of crappie by dropping to the bottom and watching my line as it went down. Lot of fish taking it very lightly on the drop. Had to pay attention to the line. If I saw it stop before I thought it hit the bottom I set the hook. If it got to the bottom I just reeled it up slowly and they usually would hit it lightly anywhere from 15 - 8 foot range. They were mainly in the deep shade of the docks. Tried jigging around the docks and that had little results compared to dropping and reeling up. Also tried outside the dock in the sun and it had little results compared to shade of dock. Yesterday I caught about 150 crappie 80% were small (under 9"). Fished from morning 7 AM - 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM. In the morning from 7 to 10:30 it was a 20 to 1 (Non-Keeper to Keeper ratio). But 12 PM to 1:30 PM it was a 10 to 1 (Non-Keeper to Keeper ratio) with catching bigger ones as the day got later. Biggest one was 13". I did not keep any fish, was just enjoying the fishing. I had bites or caught fish on every drop/retrieve of my go to jig. Missed a lot of bites. Tried many colored jigs in both hand tied and plastics. But my go to jig color pink or pink/chartreuse was the key. Had hand-tied pink/chartreuse jig that did good until I lost it in the morning then went with either a bubblegum/chartreuse crappie slider or a pink/clear silver sparkle stinger shad style jig. I was catching the most fish with the pink/clear silver sparkle stinger shad style jig. Wish I had a boat to get out further to see if the bigger ones were staged in deeper water, but that dock was my only option. The water was 77 - 78 degrees.

Dang Linhardt! Sounds like a great day on the dock. From what I've been hearing the fishing wouldn't have been nearly so good if you had a boat.
Thanks for the report and brief how to lesson.
