    Default Night Fishing

Anyone on here have any night fishing tips? I’ve heard from some it’s not worth fishing last midnight? Also read just to setup in basically the same spots you fish in the day? Thanks for any advice!

There is a guy that wrote an article all about it. I think if you search for "night stalking" you should find it. Seem like it begins as a retrospective and his progression of technique perfection as the equipment changes. Was a good in depth read.

I used to fish at night quite a bit, younger then, now I'm asleep. I used green 4foot tube light and had it on a float tube with an anchor. My tube was made for a 12 volt battery to sit in it. I also had a beacon on it for safety. I put it on my desired brush pile and then left to fish docks. when I came back after dark we would fish around it from outside the light circle. Lots of fish and a ton of fun. Good luck, it is a treat.

The darker out the better and when the bait fish come to the light don't make to much noise because the spook easily. If you catch it just right it's a blast, one night we had a circle of shad resembling a nascar track around our boat, we caught just about everything fish wise. You could see the flashes of the fish going through the shad feeding on them.

That is true Bigby, one night we had a fish cut through our light that looked like Moby Dick. That fishing can be exciting as the dickens, on the right night.

I have made quite a few posts on night fishing at LOZ that have some detail to them...IMO June is the best month overall. Late May, November, and even December can be very good also. I do not find moon phase to be very important at all. Focus on structure, in particular bluffs, and deep brush. Some of your good summer time docks will also produce at night. I do not think the fish spook very easy once they get focused on the bait fish. Sometimes they are only 5 foot or less under the boat. I have never night fished at any other lake besides LOZ so idk about other places
