    Default Cranking Timing

I'd like to hear peoples opinions whether trolling cranks for crappie seems to be better early in the day or when the sun is high?

We have been thinking about trying it at night with the temps lately.

Hotter the better! My theory is high sun pushes them down right on the thermocline and they become much easier to target...... meaning I can adjust the size of my baits, speed and length of line to get that crank right in front of them.

I was kind of thinking that might be the case, so thanks for that input U! I was thinking I'd like to time it when the best bite occurs with the least boat traffic though.

I have tried night trolling a few times without much success. I did almost hit a sailboat one night who was anchored in the middle of the lake with no lights on. I swerved at the last second.
