Default HELP! Looking for advice for this weekend

I'm getting my knee replaced next week and I would like to get my boys on the lake a couple times before I can't. Can anyone recommend where to go for these transitioning fish? I don't want your secret spots, I just need help. I've fished creek channels on Truman (Osage and Tebo Arm) and had next to no luck. I know I can find white bass by the dam, but my boys want to do a crappie fry. LoL I'm open to launching from Starett Creek, Bucksaw or Windsor Crossing. Heck I'm open to any ramp that has room for 2 or more to launch. If my oldest doesn't go, it's like a solo launch and I don't like holding people up. It's just my nature.

One last hoora would be good until I can stand on my own 2 feet again.

If they are running water through Truman Dam (I prefer 30,000 cf/s or better), fishing down below on the LOTO side can be really good in the dead channel. You can check Ameren's website for hourly updates. I recommend putting in at Drake Harbor in Warsaw and running up to the dead channel (opposite channel or the one running right up to the dam). One or two rod off the side moving slow or not at all. Minnows or jigs. If the water is running, fish will bite. Mostly crappie, but will definitely catch some catfish, white bass, maybe a gar or two, and the occasional walleye or paddle fish. Easy fishing and you should never get hung up. Fish will light up the fish finder or ask the next boat over for depth. I usually fish 10-12 feet down and all over the channel. Most people are friendly and will offer advice. Good luck with both your fishing and your knee surgery!

Thank you tyfoford. I had thought about fishing in that area, when I used to fish off the shore there would always be a ton of boats near that dock below the dam.

Tyfo is spot on. You'll catch fish there.

I'm excited for this weekend! I've been tying jigs up and purchased 2 more rods. I have an issue with all my hobbies, especially when it comes to rods and feel.

I quit all my hobbies this spring. Spent all that money and then some on learning to fish, outfitting, and going.
Best I've ever done at a hobby. Crappie patterns are changing and now I gotta go back to school(crappie school that is).
Plus my wife really wants me to bring home catfish....and I wouldnt mind being able to catch wipers on purpose.
...I was just reflecting. I think I've only had 3 bad(still good)days fishing this season (thanks jigfisherx). 2 of those days my deck boat was getting blown all to heck and back and 1 was my 1st trip in my new boat with a new TM and new graphs (all used, new to me). I think I still brought home several crappie each of those trips. Fishing this year sure has been fun! Not bragging, I'm just in shock and awe.
Wife made me clear the freezer of all the little fish bags from the last 3 years which individually was never enough for a fry. My previous 2 weeks catch matched my previous 3 years.
Yeah, maybe it was 5 bad days

We followed Jeff aka jigfisherx yesterday to what and learn. They were catching fish and we were watching. I thought our day was going to be awesome when my son catches a 11"er right off the bat. Nothing for my older son or I, but my youngest caught a 12" largemouth. All and all, nothing to complain about! Any day fishing is better than any day at work.
