Default Line choice for LOZ dock shooting

For you guys who shoot docks on LOZ do have any opinion on high vis line? I have a lot of my stuff with either braid or mono that is hi vis but with the clear water wondering if I am spooning fish. Never had any issues with using it on MT but that water is always stained or muddy.

I use high vis yellow power pro. Makes it much easier to see those subtle bites.

I’ve been shooting docks for over 10 years down there. I tried many different brands of Hiviz monofilament. This is hands down the best in 4lb line weight.

My opinion: Hi-viz doesn't hurt you with crappie. Even when LOZ clears up, there is still color to it. So, don't worry about it.

My other opinion: I don't think I have ever gotten a bite (while pole is in hand) that I saw but didn't feel. And even if that were to happen, I would think you would have seen "clear" line twitch or you would see the clear line moving to the side, etc. I bass fished for years before crappie fishing, and never would have thought of using hi-viz and we trained our eyes to be watching the line all the time. With today's highly sensitive graphite rods, you can just about feel a fish breathing on the line.

Now, if the pole isn't in hand (spider rigging, trolling, etc.), yes hi-viz all the way around. With a quick glance across multiple rods, the hi-viz allows me to see subtle changes.

I personally believe the hi-viz is mostly marketing. But, I have it on all of my crappie rods, because it is easier to buy one big spool of line for several rods/applications.

Overall, the line color is a low priority - sensitivity of the rod, color of bait, presentation of the bait, etc. are all more important.

Thanks for all the feedback. Essentially what everyone is saying is my inability to catch crappie from under the docks has nothing to do with the hi vis line am using. I guess I will keep trying. Lol.

If there are two or more people fishing in a boat it sure makes it easier to see where every ones line is at.
