    Default Small 2 person boat

I am thinking about setting up one of those "10 ft. 2 man bass boats" for fishing small water. I thought a guy told me that MO has a minimum length of boat for lakes...?
I've never heard of such a thing...but I've never looked at doing something like this before either.

Does anyone know for sure? If so where is it written, I couldn't find it anywhere.

No length limits but I have heard of motor restrictions.

I’ve never heard of a minimum boat length other than tournaments. Lots of folks fishing from kayaks no problem

I've seen "electric only" lakes/ponds...but that's OK. I plan on a trolling motor on one end and possibly a 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 HP gas on the other.

Jackson county lakes have a minimum length. Could be others.

That's OK, I'm looking at a 10 foot. Any way to find out other than going to each county website? I couldn't find it on MDC.

I really think you'll be fine in most cases, yeah you'd likely have to go to state and county websites. there are kayaks on about every body of water now, not all or over 10 feet. I'd be more concerned that you have the right number of lifejackets, throwable etc..normal boat rules.

In small boats you almost want to be like a motor cycle driver...very defensive, assume you are invisible. you just don't always have the high profile on the water . it can just be hard to see sometimes. I was running through some timber on Truman a few week back and come into the channel and a small kayaker was sitting right in the middle of the skinny part of the channel. my depth perception was also kind of off as I'm not used to seeing that. I came up on him quicker than I expected. I saw him but I could have easily not seen him...and a disaster. It kinda rattled me. I have probably 15 weeks of kayak fishing under my built in saltwater around channels. I always assumed I was invisible and when crossing a channel, in deeper water..or in the case of Truman --close to shore or in the timber where boats don't run WOT. I was hauling azz in the salt channels. not dinking round or fishing.
