you really think river otters would affect crappie that much? Have seen data about them being so destructive on like stream fishing where the fish are fairly shallow but in a lake?
Anyone been working Longview successfully?
I can be on the water at Longview in 10 minutes but for fishing its never been worth the cost of bait. Kills me to drive so far to fish, it really is a nice little lake.
I talked with the guys at the marina couple weeks ago and they said river otters were so thick they appealed to MDC to remove them. He went on to say they finally removed a whole bunch including one 6ft long(?) but they decimated the crappie before they were removed.
Last night I nabbed 3 and tossed a bunch of tiny's which was my most successful trip to longview ever. So I must be learning something.

One of the worst mistakes the conservation dept. ever made was reestablishing the otter population, of course you'll never get them to admit that.

The Mo conservation used to be the best but not anymore. Their arrogance- never admitting their mistakes and their constant patting themselves on their back is only a small part of their fall. I remember when they voiced loud and clear- the reintroducing of otters will not affect the fishing. Then months later in their magazine they show an electric fence surrounding a pond saying this is how you keep the otters from getting your fish...
