    Default Pulling crank equipment advice

I am starting to learn to fish for crappie by pulling cranks. What gear do you all recommend.

    1) 8 or 10 lbtest? Any specific line?
    2) what length rods and will any baitcasters work? What do you recommend?
    3) how many lines should a guy run?
    4) bandit 300s or anything else?

    Thanks everyone for your help!

There is a member M R DUX (Doug Wynn) who guides on Kentucky Lake/ Lake Barkley who could give you some good advice. He recently competed in the national championship on Grenada in Mississippi. I read his posts and he seems to be super knowledgeable, I don’t know him personally but try to glean his knowledge from reading his posts. I am sure he will try to help you.

Kinda depends what lake your cranking and how much you will get hung up. Lotta snags I'd want braid to pull your bait out...no snags mono is fine. Everyone is fixed on Bandits but really any number or crank baits will work just run a couple different depths to see how they are biting. Remember if have a crank bait that runs 13 feet and make a bomb cast or let a lot of line out it may run well over 20 feet. If you are running out the side or front of the boat stagger your rod lengths ( like a 10 footer and a 7 footer )..run out the back doesn't really matter. I would just run 2 to 4 rods until you think you can or want to run more...And you don't have to spend a fortune on equipment remember the trolling motor is doing the work not the rod or reel
