If you have access to a dock with some deeper water, dipping around the dock with a jig and some crappie candy would be another good option, especially once the sun is high and waves are rough.

A piece of nightcrawler off the dock will keep him busy. Make sure he has a life jacket on as the docks can get a little bouncy with wave action.

I had hoped to take him to Truman Lake for crappies, but the water levels are extreme and I have never fished LOZ. Any suggestions would be appreciated
Get you some Bandit 300s and pull em 1.4-1.6 over 25+ FOW. Sit back, relax, and let the kids reel em in. I just cast em back as far as I can and that’s our scientific way of line counting. Don’t over think it. Catch my biggest crappie of the year this way. Won’t be as many, but quality will be good. We like pink and chrome/blue. Have fun!!
