    Default Wappapello March 23

Laura and I hit Wappapello today for the first time this year. It will probably be her last trip for a month or so due to having surgery next Thursday. We didn’t hit the water until 9:00. Went to Peoples Creek. There were fish all over the screen at the front of People’s. We spider rigged for 15-20 minutes and picked up 5 keepers. The cold wind reminded me that I left my rain gear in the truck. When the bite slowed, we headed back to the ramp to get the gear. Much warmer now, we headed over to the flat in front of big island and started side scanning. Not many fish on the screen so we headed up the lake to Possum Creek. There were a bunch of fish at the front of Possum. We spider rigged for a couple hours, then put the long poles away and started long lining jigs. It was on!! We constantly had fish on. Had doubles on the same pole twice. What a blast. I don’t know how many we caught. I stopped keeping track at 75. Red/char, purple sparkle, orange white, blue/char all caught fish regularly. We kept 34 and headed for the ramp at 4:00. Had a great time.

Think paul and I are going to give the trolling jigs a try. As much fun as we have pulling cranks it ought to be good. Nice fish congrats.

Thanks man. About 50/50. Seemed like 8.75-10 inches was the norm. Thought about keeping a limit of shorts to fertilize the garden.
