I have xI5 and love it when pointed in a straight ist stays doesn't turn and you can go to back of boat get fish in and all along you have stayed on course. And at you set speed.
I used my trolling motor for pulling cranks but it's an older model and won't go for very long, so I tried a troller plate behind my 125 last year and it worked pretty well and no issues on plane, my only concern was damaging it on a tree when jigging trees, sticks out quite a ways when locked up. Probably going to go back to pushing this year, seems to work better for me and it's a lot quicker to turn around and work a good spot when you cross one.

I have a Yamaha 4 stroke kicker that works great, I use my Terrova TM on auto pilot or manually to steer. When using the big motor, I have turned my TM around, like your trying to back the boat up, to slow down.
This is how I started to see if I liked pulling cranks then it became addictive and I finely bit the bullet and got the MG Terrova.

I tried trolling with my 90 hp four stroke Johnson but couldn't get it slow enough, ended up buying a Minn Kota Ultrex 80 pound thrust and it's awesome. I just got into trolling so I have a lot to learn.
Do as a lot of us Yankee's do..back troll..nothing in the great book of trolling says you have to go forward.
Will slow you down for sure. YMMV

Upgraded my MK TM for half the cost of a new IPilot system. It is a Bluetooth connection, so it provides multiple options for navigation.
