I'll second the Berkley Big Game in 12#. Except I use clear. If we get snagged, go back and retrieve with a plug knocker. Lose very few baits this way.

Just bought some lead core line to go after the Walleyes, never fished with it but I've been watching videos how to use it. Should be interesting
I caught several walleyes out of Stockton with it last spring and early summer, crappies too.
I use a pretty long mono leader (12lb big game), tied with an Alberto knot. You have to kink and break the lead core, then pull it out of the braid jacket in order to tie it. If I remember right, it's been a while, but I believe a #7 Flicker shad will dive about 25 ft with 120ft of line out.
Lead core is opposite of mono or braid, the slower you go, the deeper it dives. You have to keep moving if you catch a fish on another line, or the lure will sink and it will hang up a lot of times when you start moving again.
