Made the 54 hopeful minute drive from North Springfield to Pittsburg Landing yesterday, in hopes of finding crappie jumping in the boat.......But when we got to the ramp, I had a feeling things were going to be different. We had to clear a path through debris that had washed up and inundated both lanes of the ramp. Water was up several feet and had somewhat of a chocolate milk hue to it. Made stops at all my normal haunts, but could not even muster a single bite. The only fish of the day (a shorty at that), was caught on a jig over a brush pile near the 64 bridge. Nevertheless we had a good time out on the water, and if nothing else enjoyed the boat ride and found some possible new fishing holes!!!

It still looks like everyone is having a really good time. I was stuck helping move my son. I'd have rather been out since the weather was so good!

water was very clear near the dam. we fished between decker branch and the state park marina and caught a couple limits and turned loose several other keepers. there were a TON of other people down there, and nearly everyone we talked to were struggling. best bite for us was homemade oversized hair jigs and homemade 3.25" triple ripple plastics. minnows and smaller jigs the fish just ignored. Clear glitter flake was great, as well as chartruse. a lot of the fish wanted it swimming. i would cast over a pile and swim it just over the top of the brush occasionally ticking the limbs and they'd take it. once the aggressive fish were done, i'd get directly over it and drop to the bottom and pick it up a ft or 2 and pick up a few more that way. you WILL get hung up doing this, but i use 24 lb gliss and very rarely lose a jig. we also got on some docks that had mega schools of fish suspending underneath them, did a little dock shooting and had some success with that as well. keeping the boat away was key, as if it got too close they would move out of reach of even the best dock shooter. that is the bad thing about floating docks. a lot harder to shoot them. get back after them! tight lines
