At this time of the year it is hunt when you must and fish when you can. I think, (I don't hunt, i just fish - sometimes).
Was going to tell u how that was my sons deer as I was mostly playing host to my son and his boys then a big change happened. Started out this morning mostly wandering around trying to stir deer for the crew and I did but they didn't cooperate and run past my hunters. So figured time to go crappie fishing headed back to car. Started unloading gun and orange, drank some water and was ready to go when I turned and looked back into woods and there stood a buck looking at me at 20 yards. I loaded a shell raised gun and fired. Rolled him and when I checked it was a 12 point monster. Luckily I didn't have any idea he was a Huge buck or I probably would have got the buck fever and missed. Had a great deer crappie camp with the guys! Which would have been perfect story if I could have gone back to lake and caught big crappie. But winds were up and they weren't biting.oh well.

best part was called my son and his buddy came over dragged it up steep bank, gutted it and tossed it up on truck without me having to do anything. then my boy caped it out and we took it to taxidermist right there in college mound who does great work. Easey peasey and didn't even get bloody. Now the boys will process it and will get my tenderloins and steaks. I like this whole playing host and younger generation does all the work.
