    Default Smithville 11/3 No luck

I went out to Smithville for the first time this morning, but didn't have any luck. I had planned on putting in the water at paradise sailboat cove, but it's closed for the season apparently - so I ended up putting in at Camp Branch slightly south of there.

I had intended on fishing beneath the Collins bridge, but there were already a couple of guys trolling back and forth between the two supports so I thought it would be rude to post up right beside them. It's not a very large area. So I went on a little further and tried in timber off in the point right near the House Erikson Camp. I saw fish on the finder, but none of them seemed interested.

THE WIND THOUGH! Jeez it was windy. 4 layers on and the wind was ripping right through them. The temperature wasn't terrible, but I couldn't hang with the wind. I was only out there from 7-9:30 before i had to pull the boat out to thaw my hands.

I guess I'll just have to try again soon. I really want to get below that bridge, since I don't know where any brush piles are in that lake... Anyone want to show me around and teach me their ways?

Very nice! Wish I knew about that earlier this morning. Took me a minute to figure out that the image had waypoints.

At least you got out and gave it a shot, Smithville is a tough lake, I probably got as many good days as I do skunk. Might try putting in at W bridge, "usually" a little better being on the river arm.

Yeah that's what I tell my son when he goes with me. fishing isn't just about catching fish, it's just as much about getting away and enjoying.

Sure is more fun when you're actually catching though.
