Crappie.com friends. I planned a trip to Stockton Lake with a couple of my high school buddies. Of course with the Missouri weather it was 95 degrees the week before and the weekend we are there it is in the 40s and rain. Not what we planned and we knew the fishing would be tough. It was raining Friday morning so my two buddies decided to stay in the cabin while I went fishing in the cold rain. As I was walking down the hill to the marina I swear I heard Beagleman yell like he caught a fish. Anyone who knows Michael knows his voice. I idle my boat out of the marina and swung by his slip to see if he was there, no sign of him. I fished for a couple hours in the rain, one crappie and bunch of white bass when my buddies called and said they were going into Stockton to a mexican restaurant to eat lunch and get a couple beers so I headed back in. Little did I know that beagleman had a bucket of crappie and stopped by the cabin to give to us for a fish dinner that night but we were gone to town. Boy were we disappointed that we missed him. After lunch I got a hold of Day Dreamer (Weldon) and set up a time to meet the next morning. What a great day of fishing we had with Weldon. We ran into Tink while we were out watching him haul in some crappies. My buddy Joe fished in Weldon's boat and we fished a twenty foot area, jockeying back and forth and a lot of time side by side. Of course Weldon had home field advantage and a certain technique that he taught us. We caught at least 50 crappie in that one area and had a nice fish dinner. Left my phone in the cabin so the only picture is the pot of filets. Nothing like fresh fish for dinner.
My high school buddies keep asking me how I know these guys and why would a guy (Beagleman) bring you a bucket of crappie and text you five brush piles to fish, and another guy (Daydreamer) take you to his honey hole and let you fish right next to him. I always tell them crappie.com. If you never been to a crappie.com camp you need to go and meet all these good people on here. I joined here in April 2010 and missed the Truman spring camp, but seen all the photos of everyone having fun. There was a fall camp that year at LOZ, so I went there and what an unbelievable time I had there. Jamie (Bugman) had all of us follow him on the lake and put us on several of his honey holes where we all caught a lot of nice crappie. I even had Slab fishing in the boat with me. At night Mr Zipp and Cookieman had there famous bbq ribs, what a treat. I met a lot of friends there. So after that I made sure that I took time off work for the Truman spring camp. Hookn & Cookn (JR and Deb)would always have things organized. Hogster, his son and Shane would cook all the fish and fries, Peculiar Mike bringing his smoked pork, Jeff fixing his cobbler and every one else bringing there specialty dishes. The food alone should be enough to get you to come but the fellowship is better. I was having so much fun that my wife wanted to come along. At my first camp Jigging 15 (Jared) took my out on his boat to show me several areas to fish. None of these guys I knew before crappie.com. I am not a person that talks to some one I don't know, (like Hdhntr)
but I had to make it a point to start meeting these guys. ( a little of Beagleman's peach whiskey helped out) I advise you to try to make some of these camps and meet some of the people on here. I also went to the Mark Twain camp put on by Route U organized. The food alone that they smoked all day and meeting the crappie.com group was a blast. I also made a lot of friends doing some of the crappie.com fishing tournaments. I met Richard (ripnlips) and Kyle (Slabscab) at the LOZ tournaments. At the Truman tournaments I fished with Dexter (Double D), Wyatt and Darren which are still good friends today. When i was looking to buy a boat I sent a personal message to Steve (kazuolobsrver) and he guided me in the right direction. My friends are so amazed that some one I met on crappie.com would bring you a bucket of fish or put you on a honey hole, but if you met these good people at camp you would see. Sorry to ramble on but wanting to thank all the crappie.com people that are helping out people that have not fished a certain lake, need boat advise or spend a lot of time getting the camps going. Thanks.

Well said Mark. I have been a member since 2012. In that time I have shared a boat with no less than 20 members. There is not a single one that I wouldn’t go with again. That’s just in the boat. Probably have twice that many members in my phone contacts as well as sat around the fire sharing stories. Not sure how many were true but....
If you are looking for a group of like minded outdoorsmen, this is the first place I would look.
Thanks Slab for making this possible.
