Good morning every one, Well the skies yesterday afternoon loaded up with clouds looking like the bottom was going to fall out anytime( least wise the times I checked Anyway), so thought better of having the seats out trying to dry. No garage, and an over ran shed....hummmm. So no more sealing them up yesterday. So after the yard gets cut this morning I will get another coat on the sides and the top and get them dried, and maybe another coat on the sides and bottom before my better half comes in off the road.
Just a little note here for those who do not know, the life of an truck driver is not just the time behind the wheel. When you are home, you have 10000000 things to do and very little time to do it, and you still need to R/R. Laundry, grocery shopping for the road, meal prep/fixing/freezing, any swapping of bedding, in the truck, ( not as easy as walking around the bed at home, I guaranty you that), Not to mention trying to spend some quality time with family, anyway, so while she's here I will be helping with that, and spending Quality time with her, and pick this back up after she leaves for the next round on the road. But will be doing some today till she gets home... Eric, AKA "jamesdean".

Hello everyone, and good evening...It is currently 1813 (6:13PM) and its been hot...I did get the transom wood coated today. I got 2 coats on what will be the side showing on all three pieces, as well as a coat on the back sides. Had planed on getting pictures after the second coat but mother nature decided otherwise. About the time I was to put the third coat on (first on backside), the sky got pretty dark and lightning bolts started flying, so I hasily got everything moved in the shed, and barely had enough room to have the wood on the saw horses and get the Polyurathane on. Come out of thier and drops were falling. I do have one on my phone I been using from the first coat this morning though...Name: IMG_20180713_094419.jpg

The motor is getting a going over and freshening up. It sat in a barn for 20 years after the previous owner had a heart attack and passed. I had asked around on hear and got 2 recommendations for reputable mechanics an I went to one with it. Parts a tree available so i see no problems. Michael my mechanic said he would have it running as if it were his. I hope that's a good thing, as most ,not all, mechanics don't work on their own for working on others...

Be interesting to see if these AMAZING new 4-strokes can still push a boat when they are 57 years old.

    Not a chance!

You Probably right. It was bad enough when they brought in UNLEADED GAS, but this Stuff they putting in it now is just eating stuff up. Sure glad thier's a fuel company about a mile from the house that carries leaded fuel. Expensive but you don't have to take stock in STP Fuel Aditives...Yep 57 yrs old, three years younger than me...hahaha

Been thinking about the flotation foam for under the seats. I been following threads on a small boat building/ modification site, and I have seen some weird messes being used. Everything from two part pourable expanding foam, to stacked sealed 1 liter bottles...Well my math isn't good enough to figure the pourable stuff and not rich enough to buy all the pool noodle needed even getting them at the dollar store. My Bench supports go all the way to the floor, and inside wall to wall is 11.33 inches wide. By keeping this build as basic as possible, I figure the amount of total weight (boat, motor, fuel, batteries, trolling motor, and fish finder) to be approx., 600 lbs give or take a little bit. My plan is to use the Expanded Polystyrene Boards and cut and glue them together, then seal the cut edges. Taking some 2' pvc and place in the bottom center for any accumulation of water to run back to the bilge. These panels would be 8'' thick X 11" wide X 4' long and there would be 3 of them. To my way of thinking this should be enough to hold the boat up should the un-thinkable happen and it gets swamped. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you. Eric AKA "jamesdean".

I'd make storage compartments under the seats. Tackle in the middle, and battery and other accessories under the rear one.
Putting foam under them does nothing but invite mice and spiders to breed there.
Install a bilge pump if you're concerned about it taking on water.

Bilge pumpis already in the plans, But if I'm not mistaken the USCGA reg.s require that the Floatation foam be present. I do plan on having some storage in the boat for a tackle box, life vest, anchor and what not. There is supposed to be seat of some sort up in the bow. I have been toying with the Idea of putting a deck up thierthat goes from the point, or just behind it back to the front of the first seat. I have made a cross brace that runs from the front back about a foot and a half and then a piece that runs side to side and attached to the back of it at the height of the seat, just haven't gotten to make the deck part itself yet. Battery was going under back seat, and the fuel tank will have to ride infront of the back seat because it won't fit behind it. My late brother in law hade an old walk-thru tri-hull that he had bought, not knowing anything about boats at all, and he got took. The floor and transome was gone with rot. The only good thing was the 850 merc. motor and the 12 gal fuel tank the previous owner had fiberglassed in. Needles to say, he traded that motor for a riding lawn mower, his brother took a sawzall to the boat. I had came through on my way with a load going to Miami and rescued the tank, or It would be in pieces too. So I have the 12 gal. fuel tank.just need to make a hose up that will fit the Evinrude on one end,(fuel out, and the Merc, on the tank end with the pump bulb where it's supposed to be...
But yes I plan on having some storage in that middle seat, probably not the whole area though...Eric,AKA "jamesdean"
