Thread: LET RESTORE BEGIN

Afternoon Folks, or evening which ever you prefer...I did all I set out to do today.The transom itself is in and rock solid. the only way it's going anywhere is if the whole aluminum transom plate itself comes out. I still need to install the corner braces, and aluminum angle accross the top, as well as trim the excess bolts off with the grinder. Something for another day. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out, actually. Here's some pic's of the way it is now. The corner brackets are just sitting there, not installed. Thanks for following the Build thus far. When I get more done I'll be sure to Post it up... This shows the copious amount of silicone on the washer side, not to mention around the stove bolt, in the bolt hole too...

And here it is. I need to getsome ultra low temp aluminum welding/brazing rods and do some plugging of some holes before I go much further. Who ever took this apart in the first place must have only had a 1/4 inch drill bit to remove the rivits he did cause there are some large holes where rivits should be, and if the rivit was that big, this thing should be an ocean liner. I had lost track of this thread ---- Glad I found it again... This Post is about flotation --- My Brother was able to get several sheets of foam 4 inches thick --- those sheets were acquired from a company that does commercial roof decks on flat roofs --- the foam is used as an underlayment on some Buildings -- he got them to build a floating dock, the sheets were 4x8 feet 4 inches thick

Well hello again everyone, I got a little bit of work done on the boat today. Not exactly what I wanted to do but some anyway. It's all part of getting it back together and on the water, right. Well I decided I wanted to see what I had so far, so I put the seats in, didn't bolt them down as when I do I only want to do it once. So here are a few pictures of what it will look like with all the wood in... I also scrapped off what appeared to be some hard window putty from where the seats were sealed (?) to the side of the boat.... It took a bit fof time as I didn't want a bunch of scrape marks in the boat. I have to get me some MAPP gas later and fill in a few large hole a previous owner used a large drill bit to drill a small rivet out with, as well as cut down the extra part of the bolts on the transom. will probably just use an angle grinder on them... Well that's it for the day today...Thoughts and comments are welcome, so what do you all think so far? Eric, AKA "jamesdean".
