I was able to get ahold of Mr. Bender yesterday evening and will be taking the motor over their this evening, so that part is going well...after it cooled off yesterday evening I was able to get a coat of Spar on the seats, well, one side and the edges anyway. I will get the other side and all edges done this AM so, providing we don't get the rain this afternoon they are calling for, Seats should be done. After I find me some block foam, or go the other route of making my own with the two part expanding foam. Neither of these routes will be cheap. I might be able to get away with the two gallon kit of expanding foam, makes 9 cu. ft., and do the seats. If memory serves me right, that's about $100.00 for the kit, 1gal part A, and 1gal part B which activates it when mixed well. may have to wait on that part a bit.
My baby Said wait till Christmas and Santa will have a new Fish finder for me, so if I get this all done before hand, I guess we will go fishing by blind luck...Trolling motor, I am looking at a bow mount Hand controlled, 55lb Min Kota. and of coarse, just like every other person buying a boat there are the gotta have things to be legal, like life jacket, fire extinguisher, lights and what nots...Good Lord Willing, before ice this will hit the water for a shake down run...
Any and all comments are welcome. This is my first boat since 1981, all I ask, is keep the comments/ criticism on the positive side. If I miss something, or you think I'm doing something wrong, it's ok to say something, just don't be nasty about it. I'm not saying anyone has, or would, We are a great community here at CDC, just saying...Thank you for reading, looking, and following. I will update the thread as progress is made. More to come. Well I got the Motor over to Michael Bender today, and he said he could get it running right, so That part will be good, just need to get the boat ready for it now. Got some more Spar on the wood for the seats today and the outside clamp board for the transom. Still need to cut the inside boards for the transom, and get them glued up and sealed.90 degree's here this morning at 0730...cooked me before 1000...just keep plugging away as best as I can.

Hello everyone, I got out and did a bit more done on the boat this morning...no big suprise as I got nothing else to do...I took pictures as I went, and not sure what happened but nothing on the SD card. Cant figure that one out. Any way, I managed to get the inner transome cut and fitted. I had to drill about 6 rivits out that were sorta holding the rear corner braces in place. I say that because the rivits were very loose. I found where a previous owner, probably the one who took the transom out in the first place, removed a support bracket that holds one end of the transom in place. Looked in the supplied box of parts, and no dice. It wasen't there. So something else to make. I wound up with a 3/4 inch piece of plywood, non treated, on the inside, a 3/4 inch on the outside with the aluminum sheeting that is the metal transom sandwiched in between. Then I took a 1/2 inch piece about 11 inches wide and the width of the boat, to attach along the top inside transom board. All of this will be sealed air and water tight with Polyurath ane then glued, screwed and them bolted thru the aluminum hull, giving me a transom about 2 inches thick, and rock solid. Should be more than enough for the evinrude Fastwin 18 that's going on back.
Heat started to get to me so I'm done till later, maybe tomorrow...I will get pics re-taken of how it will all go together after it cool's down a bit...till later, Eric, AKA "jamesdean"

I have an old Garmin 2d fish finder that I would be glad to donate to your project. Worked fine for me just got a newer one with down image and speed readout. Nothing fancy but the price is right and I make it to Stockton now and again.

Size: 57.0 KB May not seem like a lot of work, but this boat is shaped a lot like one of those frameless pools, where it's kind of bell shaped on the bottom. Well getting that inside transom to fit, I will let you know it was in and out of that boat a good 50 times this morning. Then Sanded on or cut on and then sanded some more. May not look factory, but it is what it is...Comments, suggestions, and conversation is always welcome. Glad so many folks are checking the boat out...I will try to keep it updated everyday. Thank you for reading and looking. Eric, AKA "jamesdean"...P.S. On the pic's from the front showing the full transom board there will be an 11 inch board across the top to make it 2 inched thick where the motor clamps on and help distribute some of the torque...Eric.

Thank You Speck, Yes sir, I'm getting with the program, least wise till It's too hot and I'm give out...Being at home all the time, I need to stay busy, or boredom takes over, so I try to stay busy. I want the boat ready to go as much as possible when I get the motor back. I did some sanding tonight and have all the pieces ready either for the first or third coat of spar polyurathane. Been using the minwax professional grade in satin over the natural wood, and it looks pretty good, just not getting the depth I was looking for. May see if I can overcoat this with a thicker type of coating. I want to make sure every nook and cranny is covered with no chance of water getting in and rotting wood, least wise as long as I'm still breathing anyway...hahaha. Keep watching, It's going to be nice.
Once I get the wood done, gonna see maybe About painting it. I'm thinking a single base med./dark Blue up to the rub rail at the water line, and white above that, and not sure about the inside, but sure it will get a non reflective color there also. we will see. After that while it's off the trailer, it'll get stripped, and going to media blast it, check all the welds, fill in/ replace any potted up metal areas, Prime it, and probably paint it to match the bottom of the boat. Replace all wiring, and lights, put a spare tire mount somewhere, put three new tires on, then it will be like brand new...Just a matter of time. Least wise that's the game plan anyway. till tomorrow folks. Eric, AKA "jamesdean".

Hello everyone, I've been back at it again. Decided this morning to go get some fast drying Polyurethane. Got started about 15 till seven this morning laying it on. Just came in from putting second coat on edges and first coat on All three seat bottoms. I don't quite understand how this is fast drying when at the four hour recommended time between coats it's still feels tacky...this will sit out for four hors, then will get flipped over lightly sanded on the first coat for the top, then a good second coat for it. then around 830 tonight in the shed it goes to finish setting up. Tomorrow I will see if I can get a couple of coats on the transom pieces. My sweetheart is supposed to be in this weekend to get the rest of her stuff for the truck, (what she couldn't take on the bus without having an army of help to tote it for her besides costing an arm and a leg...), So I'll be busy getting her set up their instead of working on this. She'll have to leave sometime Sunday to deliver on Monday am. And Probably wont be back for about three weeks. So goes the life of a trucker, been on that side of it till my back wouldn't take it no more...
If I get more done I will post as I get it done. I am so much happier with the outcome of this Polyurethane. I'll just have to deal with the glossy ness of semi gloss, and sunshine in the eyes. But it looks so good. I tried to capture the glare in the light off the seats in some of these pictures. So here they are...Name: IMG_20180712_075100.jpg
